Folderico: Customize folder icon appearance

Folderico is a free software that allows you to change the look and feel of the folders in your Windows machine.

Install Folderico through this link provided here. You can pin it to your start menu for easy access. Launch the program and you will get to see a window like the one shown below.

Use the browse button to select any folder in your machine. The next step is to select an icon for it. Folderico offers you a set of different themes to select from. Once you are satisfied with any theme, click ‘Apply’. (You may have to refresh the screen if you still couldn’t see the change in folder appearance.)

It can be even easier to work with Folderico. Folderico is available in the folder context menu. Just right click on any folder and select the Folderico option from the context menu.

If you still need more themes for your folder, you have the option to download additional themes from Folderico. Use the RapidShare link to download the theme and unzip the file.

Then copy the ICL file to Folderico folder where you first installed the software. (Usually in ‘program files’)

To apply these newly downloaded themes, just click ‘select other icon’ button and that will take you to Folderico installation folder. Select the ICL file theme that you downloaded and copied, and you will be able to apply those themes.

You can also use fences to get a better look. Below is the screen shot of my desktop with the customized folder icons.
