Chit Chat for Facebook is a free Facebook IM that enables Facebook chat service from your desktop rather than having to use your web browser.

The IM service allow you to save your chats, enables text formatting, emoticons and a number of other features.

Follow the link to download and install Chit Chat for Facebook. Sign in with your Facebook email and password to start with it.

As you sign up, the app updates your Facebook status saying that you've started using Chit Chat. But you can very well turn this off from the settings if you want.

As you login you should get to find the IM screen as the one shown below

The app allows you to update your status, or write on your friend's wall, or type in a private message to send right from the chat screen without having to open your browser.

Another feature to mention is tabbed chat window option. You can chat with all your friends just from a single chat window.

Though annoyingly the app makes you sign up for a market research program when you launch it, Chit Chat for Facebook is a notable option if all you're interested in is only Facebook IM.

Also, I feel it would have been a much better experience with the app if only the interface was more polished.
